Conclusion

What I hope to have shown in the course of this chapter is the coherence of an unabashedly Christoform epistemology. I have tried to demonstrate that those who assume the epistemic priority of the narratives concerning Jesus Christ are neither insane nor irresponsible, or at the very least, no less sane or responsible than those who assume the purportedly neutral epistemic stance of modernity. Cartesians, Humeans, and Kantians presumed certain principles in order to clarify their thinking; so, I have argued, Christians presume certain principles flowing from the Scripture and theological tradition in order to clarify their reflection on the world. The battle, therefore, is not between the prejudiced and the unprejudiced but between two camps, each prejudiced in a distinctive manner. This acknowledgment does not lock us into sectarianism or relativism; rather, it opens the door to an argument far more fruitful than the one that held sway between Christian and secular thinkers throughout most of modernity.
